DEWA Transformational Excellence in Technology Governance

Over the ten years since its beginning, DEWA grew to be UAE’s best energy provider. In 2018 and 2020, the firm raised a total of USD20 million. In 2020, however, the DEWA CEO, Dr Rashid, was contemplating the exceeding transformational KPI (Key Performance Indicators) in IT Governance. One question that he had was the impact of KPI in IT Governance on DEWA’s Operational Excellence. Operational performance monitoring is one of the most significant gaps in DEWA, and the fundamental reason is erring measurements and logic to implement decisions. Even the created management information system is not efficiently utilized to manage the distribution system impeccably. One limitation is considering utilities as a complicated distribution network with numerous shareholders/stakeholders like customers, integrated to DTCs, substations, feeders developing a network and one network connection with others. A compelling set of operational key performance indicators should also provide an efficient causative analysis of any network issue.
