Airbus Helicopters is the world’s leading manufacturer of civilian helicopters and a leading manufacturer of military helicopters. It was created under the name Eurocopter in 1992 from the merger of the helicopter divisions of the French company Aerospatiale (SNIAS) and the German company Deutsche Aerospace (DASA). It is employing around 22,000 people around the world. Its fleet currently comprises 12,000 aircraft operated by more than 3,000 customers in around 150 countries. Airbus Helicopters has a strong international presence thanks to its subsidiaries and holdings in 24 countries and has a global network of maintenance centers, training centers, distributors, and authorized agents. Airbus’s market share oscillates between 48% and 54% for the last three years, while its best closest competitor, the Italian Leonardo, has been fluctuating between 17% to 23% of the total market share.
